Additional evaporative concentration facilities (3400 tons/month) have been introduced into wastewater recycling facilities to increase wastewater reuse rates.
We are implementing wastewater reduction activities by introducing a wastewater reduction facility, RO facility (3,600 tons/month).
We have completed the first phase of advanced work to expand the energy management system to all factories and have completed the system installation in all major energy-consuming facilities. Through accurate measurement, we are identifying energy-intensive facilities and continuing energy and greenhouse gas reduction activities through continuous improvement.

In 2021, Soulbrain's water usage reduction performance compared to the previous year was 12,855 tons. This is equivalent to the amount of water that 2,500 adults can use in a month. This is a 5.21% improvement in reduction rate compared to the previous year. In particular, 4,700 tons were reduced in the plant that produces ultra-pure water, which is essential for the production of semiconductors and display panels. In addition, we are reducing water usage by maximizing the use of eco-water and increasing water recycling. In addition, this is the result of applying various reduction items, such as improving the process of cleaning work that requires water usage and introducing equipment to improve the function of refrigerators that use water. In addition, we also reduce water usage by reusing water used once as boiler feed water. In 2021, water reduction items were shared at the environmental performance council held every month, and they are being distributed horizontally to similar process facilities. Soulbrain will make further efforts to reduce water usage through optimal water resource management.
This is a council presided over by the CEO and attended by all heads of related departments. As a major agenda, we collect and report energy consumption and waste generation and share the current status of the application of major reduction items and improvement results.
It was completed in October 2021 after a period of 5 months and has been in normal operation since November. It produces an average of 18,000 kWh of electricity per month, which is used as electricity required for the manufacturing process, and a central control room monitoring system related to solar power generation has been established. The installed capacity of energy generation is over 150 kW per hour, and an average of 3.7 hours of power generation is generated per day per year. The generated energy is used as electricity required for manufacturing production at the Gongju plant.
Regarding the treatment of all wastewater generated from the plating and surface treatment processes of the Paju plant, recycling has been increased through a purification system utilizing pretreatment filters and RO filters. In September 2021, a wastewater recycling device was manufactured and installed, and it has been applied to mass production after obtaining water quality permits and conducting test runs.
The CMP Material Manufacturing Team, the Electrolyte Manufacturing Team, and the ultra-pure water plant achieved annual reductions of 1.7 million kWh by usinghigh-efficiency inverter equipment. In addition, steam energy was reduced by 3,000 tons compared to the previous year, exceeding the target. As a representative item, eight high-efficiency boilers were replaced and installed. In addition, integrated operation of boilers in Paju Plant 1 and Plant 2 was applied to achieve energy reductions by adjusting the number of units in operation by season.
To ensure efficient energy use, an energy management system has been established at factories 2 and 6 of the Gongju plant.

In the first half of 2024, Soulbrain Holdings MI Corporation performed LCAs on two of its products, followed by additional assessments on two products produced at the Soulbrain Gongju Plant in the second half of the year.
